Things Have changed…It’s a New Super Eagles’ – Siasia boasts

Yvonne Williams

Super Eagles head coach Samson Siasia is confident of victory when his side takes on the pharaohs of Egypt in a do-or-bust 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, today.

The former Eagles striker expressed belief in the present crop of players in the squad, and hinted at the dawning of a new day with the switch in captaincy from Ahmed Musa to John Obi Mikel.

Siasia, who had earlier talked about the ability of his lads to ‘recreate the glory days of Nigerian football’, went further to describe them as the “new Super Eagles” with a mandate to deliver the goods.

“The team is ready. This is a new Super Eagles team,” Siasia told reporters in Kaduna.

“We have prepared well and I have confidence in this group of players.

“We’re working very hard to make sure we come out and make Nigerians proud,” he added.

Tomorrow (Friday) Nigerians will see a different ball game. Things have changed. That is our message for Nigerians.”

Egypt lead Group G with a maximum six points from two games, with Nigeria second on four points in the race to Gabon 2017.
