Missing Sala Plane: Underwater Search To Recommence

An underwater search is set to begin for the missing plane that was carrying Emiliano Sala to Cardiff after over 4,500 people donated to a GoFundMe page set up to raise €300,000 to resume the search.

The target which was reached in less than three days after the page was created on January 25 had people from all over the world, including PSG star Mbappe.

Search for the plane, which was conveying Sala and a pilot from Nantes to Cardiff. was halted by Welsh authorities after 80 hours of extensive search.

But with many calling for the search to continue and the set target surpassed, director of Bluewater Recoveries, David Mearns, spoke to the press.

The survey vessel is currently being mobilized in Southampton, and subject to weather conditions, will be re-positioned to Guernsey on Thursday or Friday this week. Based on current weather predictions, we are hopeful that the underwater search will begin on the weekend, most probably on Sunday.

The family of the Cardiff record signing still have hopes of finding the player and pilot, Dave Ibbotson, even though Guernsey Harbour Master Captain David Barker said recently that the chances of survival were slim.

The family still have some hope. They’re looking at this as a missing person, a missing plane, and until they are satisfied that’s the mode we’re in.
This is a family that has come from Argentina with this huge shock out of nowhere and struggling with what had happened, with very, very few answers about an unexplained loss.”
