Arsenal have appointed former MFM FC assistant coach, Marcellinus Anyanwu as their U-17 team coach at the clubs Soccer School in Dubai.

Anyanwu who has enjoyed an impressive rise in the UAE was assisting Nduka Ugbade when the ex-international was coach of MFM FC.

The Imo state born tactician joined Universal Sports Club after enjoying success with Holy Trinity Anglican Church team in the 2013 Inter-Church Festival football tournament which had all Churches in Dubai competing for the trophy.

While he was with Universal Sports Club, he won three trophies while in charge of their U-16, Academy and the school league team.

Anyanwu who is the first Nigerian to be appointed as a coach at the Arsenal Soccer School in Dubai is popularly referred to as Marcelo Lippi (his role model) by his players.

Speaking to a close source, Taiwo Ibrahim, Anyanwu said this of his new role with the Gunners:

”I am very excited to be part of the Arsenal Soccer school as a coach, it feels good to have been chosen to impart my knowledge on the team.

“I am ready to train, teach and tell the young lads about the philosophy of Arsenal football club.”

Anyanwu who holds a Diploma Certificate in coaching and Training from NIS and an International coaching certificate from the English FA and the Italian FA revealed he would also like to contribute to the development of football in Nigeria at the youth level.

“With the experience and exposure Ihave gained over the years in grassroots football, I can take Nigeria to the next level."
