Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has heightened rumours he could be taking up a top job in France following his recent statement.

The Portuguese attended Lille’s home draw against Montpellier with former French striker, Nicolas Anelka.

Mourinho has managed and won league titles in Portugal, Italy, Spain, and England, and has stirred up speculations he could be moving over to France to continue his remarkable career.

“I can imagine myself as a coach in Ligue 1,” Mourinho said to beIN SPORTS.

“I am a man who has worked in four different countries, I like to know and learn about other cultures. Working in a new championship would be a fantastic experience.

“For now I'm calm, I try to live better with my family and friends and I work to get the right opportunity to go back to training.

“Two to three months [without a job] is okay, afterward it's more difficult. I hope to have the opportunity to come back stronger.

“My project is my project as a person and coach, to improve myself, to be better, to think all days about my profession, which is also a passion. But this is not the time to talk with clubs.”

The 56-year-old has turned down a job offer to coach in his hometown with Benfica but has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Chelsea boss was reportedly at the venue on the request of Lille's technical director, Luis Campos, with whom he worked at Real Madrid

Mourinho was fired by United in December, with former striker Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer replacing him on interim basis.
