Claude Puel Sacked By Leicester City After Poor Run

Leicester City have sacked Claude Puel as manager after 16 months of being in charge of the club.

Puel had been under pressure for a while following poor results over the last few months and it was widely speculated this weekend that the Frenchman was a defeat away from a sack.

And true to the rumours the former Southampton boss has been ousted after the Foxes were hammered 4-1 at home by Crystal Palace on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2019.

The board decided to make the changes as they try to get the fans - who stayed behind to vent their frustration at the King Power Stadium - behind the team again.

A club statement confirming the termination read: "Leicester City Football Club has parted company with Claude Puel, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

"The club would like to thank Claude for his efforts in leading the team during his 16 months in the role and wish him well in his future career.

"Assistant Manager Jacky Bonnevay also departs with the club's best wishes.

"First Team Coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler, supported by the club's established backroom staff, will assume responsibility for the senior squad while the club begins the process of appointing a new manager.

"The Board will make no further comment until this process is complete."

Leicester failed to win a game in front of their home fans this year and have won just once in their last nine competitive games before Claude Puel's sack.
