Arsenal is confident about finishing top four in the Champions League after their 2-0 win over Manchester United, according to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his first defeat in the Premier League on Sunday, a victory that took them to the fourth position on the log.

A Granit Xhaka strike from distance, which swerved and left David de Gea wrong-footed in the first half, and a second-half penalty converted by Aubameyang after Lacazette was brought down in the box by Fred fetched Arsenal their fourth position.

Following his match-winning performance, the Gabon international spoke to Sky Sports: “The spirit of the team was good.

“We have everything in our hands and we know it will be tough to finish in the top four, but we are confident - it was important to win this game today and we have chances.

“We have a good spirit and we are hungry - we want to come back into the Champions League.”

Aubameyang, who has found the back of the net 17 times in the Premier League this season, missed a penalty last weekend as the Gunners played a 1-1 draw against Spurs.

“I made a mistake against Tottenham and I missed it, but today I was focused and scored a penalty,” the 29-year-old added.

“You have to practice this all the time and I did. I knew it would be tough, but I was really confident.”

Unai Emery's men will now switch their focus to their European League tie against Rennes as they try to overturn a first leg 3-1 deficit.
