Samuel Kalu and Ola Aina have pulled out of Super Eagles dead rubber AFCON qualification game against Seychelles and the international friendly against Egypt.

The withdrawal of both players has raised a few eyebrows, especially for Samuel Kalu who featured for Bordeaux in the 1-1 draw against Monaco on March 9.

But Bordeaux coach, Sousa, has confirmed that the player who was left out of the squad for their home draw against Rennes was nursing a muscle contracture while taking care of his mum.

''Kalu is suffering from a minor muscle contracture which prevented him from participating in the game.

''And most importantly, he has to take care of his mother (after the kidnapping episode). It's not easy for him. We'll see when he can come back.''

Recall that the forward's mother was released after nearly a week of being held hostage by kidnappers in Abia state.

Kalu has scored just once in five appearances for Nigeria since making his international debut in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in September 2018 against Seychelles.

Meanwhile, the NFF has confirmed that Ola Aina pulled out of the squad because of injury concerns and has been replaced by Akwa United's Ndifreke Effiong.
