Five Overage Players In Golden Eaglets Team Exposed By MRI Scan

Five players from the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria team preparing for 2019 CAF -17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania have failed the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test, a few days to the start of the tournament.

According to, the test was conducted on Friday, with five key players failing the test in Abuja.

The Manu Garba-tutored side won the WAFU qualifying series in Niger to qualify for the continental tournament which commences on April 14 at two venues, National Stadium, Dar es Salaam, and Chamazi Stadium, Mbagala.

Nigeria play their first game of the competition against the host nation before facing Angola and Uganda in their other group games.

The MRI is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to form pictures of the anatomy and the physiological processes of the body in both health and disease.

It was introduced by FIFA in 2009 for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup to help ascertain whether players are overage or not.

Defender – Muhammed Ibrahim

Midfielders – Hassan Huseini and Babatunde Akinsola Jimoh

Forward – Favour Akem
