Nigeria's national U-17 team were victorious in a high scoring tournament opener against hosts, Tanzania, at the National Stadium in Dar Es Salam.
Goals by Olatomi Olaniyan, Wisdom Ubani, and Akin Amoo gave Nigeria a comfortable 3-1 first-half lead.
But the Tanzanians scored three goals in quick succession in the second half to threaten Nigeria with defeat before Wisdom Ubani equalized and then Ibraheem Jabaar scored the winning goal.
The goalscorers for the Serengeti Boys were Edmund John (2) and Kelvin John, with Suleman Shaibu of Nigeria scoring a goal.
In the other game in group A, Osvaldo 'Capita' Capemba of Angola scored an early goal against Uganda to give them all three points.
Even though both teams are now on three points, the Golden Eaglets are however top of the group based on goal difference having found the back of the net five times as opposed to Angola's one.
