Manchester City full-back, Kyle Walker, has sent out a consolation message to the club's fans after their disheartening ouster from the Champions League.

The Citizens were knocked out of the competition in controversial circumstances on away goal rules after their tie against Spurs ended 4-4 on aggregate.

Pep Guardiola's men thought they had done enough to progress into the last four when Raheem Sterling scored in additional time but the goal was eventually ruled out as Aguero was offside in the buildup to the goal.

That decision to cancel the goal after a VAR check crushed the hearts of many City fans at the Etihad and all over the world.

Walker and his teammates were also puzzled at the manner in which they were knocked out but the England international seems to have put himself together to apologize to fans and also congratulate his former club.

"Absolutely gutted. We’re sorry to all the fans. We did all we could. Thank you for your incredible support. Well done to @SpursOfficial!" he wrote on Twitter.

City will face Spurs again on Sunday in a crucial Premier League encounter as they look to keep their title hopes on track while Spurs would want to boost their top four fights.
