Manchester United saw their top four hopes suffer another setback after Everton smashed four past them at the Goodison Park in Sunday's early Premier League kick off.

The Red Devils suffered their fifth consecutive defeat away from home in all competitions since their match against PSG last month.

Goals from Richarlion and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the first half and another two from Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott put Solskjaer's men to the sword.

United were outclassed in all departments of the pitch as Everton continued their good home form which has seen them defeat Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United in recent weeks.

Richarlison opened the scoring with an acrobatic volley 12 minutes into the game after Everton had started the brighter of both sides.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's goal made it 2-0 with a low 25-yard drive on 28 minutes to hand the hosts a deserved 2-goal lead into the break.

Lucas Digne fired home a third when United failed to clear a corner kick properly 11 minutes after the restart before substitute Walcott completed the rout with a fine finish after a swift counter-attacking move.

Man United were poor from the get-go and played for 85 minutes before registering their first shot on target.

The defeat leaves them in 6th position, two points off Arsenal in fourth and and three less than Tottenham. Their next game is against Manchester City at Old Trafford.
