David De Gea’s Mistake Cost Man United Victory Against Chelsea

Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea, committed another howler that cost his team a win against Chelsea in the race for a top-four finish.

The United no.1 gifted his countryman, Marcos Alonso, Chelsea's equaliser.

Man United had taken the lead through Juan Mata on 11 minutes. The diminutive midfielder, who was celebrating his 31st birthday, finished off a fine move that included Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Luke Shaw.

The Red Devils looked like they were going to take their lead into the break before de Gea committed another high profile error which the Blues pounced on.

De Gea, who made costly mistakes against Barcelona and Manchester City in recent games, splashed Rudiger's shot for Alonso to chip in the rebound of the post.

The mistake was the 3rd that has led to a goal in de Gea's last four games in all competitions for Manchester United - as many as in his previous 123 matches combined for the club.

De Gea also had a dismal World Cup where he conceded six goals from the seven shots on target, including a Ronaldo hattrick against Portugal.

The goalkeeper is yet to recover from that and recent contractual talks seem to have divided the focus of the man who was voted the best goalkeeper in the Premier League for four years consecutively.

Solskjaer's men remain sixth on the log with two rounds of games to go, three points behind Chelsea in fourth and five points away from Spurs who are third.
