The duo of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino could miss Liverpool's Champions League return leg against Barcelona at Anfield on Tuesday due to injuries.

Salah, who scored The Reds second goal in their hard fought 3-2 win against Newcastle, was stretchered off midway through the second half of the Premier League game against Newcastle following a nasty collision with Magpies goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka.

And now Liverpool will have to conduct further checks on the Egyptian to discover the extent of the injury ahead of the UCL game.

"What I heard, he got the hip of the goalie on his head," Jürgen Klopp said in a post-match interview.

"He was then on the ground and the doc had to make a decision 'on the pitch or off the pitch', and the decision was off the pitch. We accept that of course.

"When he came in he was sitting in the dressing room watching the game on television. So he was then fine, but of course we have to wait. He got a proper knock, obviously, in that situation."

While Salah still has a solid chance of featuring in the game, Klopp has confirmed Roberto Firmino will miss the match on Tuesday but could return for Liverpool’s final Premier League match of the season versus Wolves.

“He will not be ready for Tuesday and the rest we will see,” said the German when asked about his No.9.

The Brazilian was left out of the Reds’ squad for the win at St. James' Park due to the muscular injury he sustained while training last week.
