Manchester United legends were in great form against Bayern Munich legends in a charity match at Old Trafford.

The fundraising game for the Manchester United foundation saw legends of the Red Devils square up against legends of their 1999 Champions League final opponent.

Unlike many other exhibition games, this one was pretty competitive until the second half when Sir Alex Ferguson managed United team put the game beyond their visitors.

Current United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ,opened the scoring just a few minutes after coming on for Andy Cole who kicked off the game and substituted for medical reasons.

Solskjaer tapped home a Jesper Blomsqvist pass from close range after Hans-Jorg Butt had to pull off a reflex stop off a Dwight Yorke strike when Beckham got past Andreas Ottl on the right and played in a low cross.

Jesper Blomsqvist was provider again for the second goal when he found an unmarked Dwight Yorke who volleyed home stylishly on the half-hour mark.

The first half saw a few other goalmouth actions but not any more goals but there were three more goals in the second courtesy of Nicky Butt, Louis Saha, and crowd favourite, David Beckham.

Butt rounded up a move he had started when he smashed in Louis Saha’s ball into the box with an angled side-foot finish that beat Bernd Dreher.

Barely six minutes later, Saha got his goal when he supplied the final touch from close range after a nice move released Jonathan Greening and he unselfishly squared it to his colleague.

The game wouldn't finish without a David Beckham goal and that was what the cheering got with the final kick of the game. Beckham dribbled past Hans Pflugler inside the box before dispatching his shot into the net past Dreher to put the seal on a 5-0 triumph.
