Official: Xavi Hernandez Confirmed As New Coach Of Al Saad

Spain and Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez, has been appointed as the new coach of Qatari side, Al Saad, in his first move into coaching.

Xavi, who announced his retirement on May 2, and played his final match on May 20, in an AFC Champions League defeat to Persepolis takes over as manager at the club where he spent the last four seasons of his playing career.

Officially, the Spaniard would take over for the 2019-20 campaign, with Al Sadd set to travel to Girona for a pre-season training camp.

The 39-year-old was touted as a possible replacement for Ernesto Valverde whose future at Barcelona is reportedly in doubt but he must now prove himself in Qatar before any potential move to Camp Nou.

Xavi, a World Cup winner with Spain in 2010, left Barcelona for Al Sadd in 2015, after an illustrious career at his boyhood club that saw him win eight La Liga titles, four Champions League titles, three Copa del Rey, and many other honours.
