The Super Eagles have commenced preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, which is set to hold in Egypt later this month.

Camp opened on Sunday in Asaba, Delta State, with as many as 18 of the 25 selected players arriving before the end of the day.

Returning captain, John Mikel Obi, was one of the first stars to arrive camp, while newly wedded Leicester City star, Wilfred Ndidi, joined the team today.

Vice-captain, Ahmed Musa, and Turkey-based right back, Shehu Abdullahi, would join up with the team later, having been given some time off following the Ramadan fasting.

Striker Odion Ighalo, who was injured on May 10 while playing for his Chinese clubside, Shanghai Shehua, but reportedly returned to full training last week is yet to arrive camp.

Alex Iwobi and William Troost-Ekong have not been sighted too.

The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe on June 8 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba before departing for Ismaila, Egypt, the next day for final camping.

A friendly against Africa's top ranked side, Senegal, is scheduled to hold at the Ismailia Stadium on June 16 before attention would switch to the tournament proper that runs from the 21st of June to the 20th of July.
