Mesut Ozil’s wedding had it all, love, a few controveries, and of course, a happy ending.
The 30-year-old former German international footballer and Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil, married Miss Turkey, Amine Gulse, in Istanbul, Turkey.
The wedding reception, which held at Four Seasons hotel, was heavily guarded by armed soldiers because of the President of Turkey who was in attendance.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife, Emine, were witnesses to the ceremony and also Sead Kolasinac, Arsenal left-back, alongside other prominent persons and family.
Ozil was caught in political brouhaha after being pictured with the Turkey President, Erdogan. Due to the bad blood between Turkey and Germany, the Chief of Staff, Angela Merkel, and German Chancellor, Helga Braun, have criticized Ozil for inviting Erdogan, suggesting the Arsenal playmaker was setting a "bad example" as a role model.
Mesut Ozil and his 26-year-old bride wore glum faces during his pre-wedding shoot and only managed to smile and laugh after the wedding.
The happy couple had earlier announced on Thursday that they will celebrate their union by giving a massive donation to charity.
Mesut Ozil and Amine Gulse are set to pay for 1000 children around the world to have surgery. This good deed is in conjunction with the "Big shoe" charity.
