Ferland Mendy Joins The ‘White Army’

Lyon defender, Ferland Mendy, has become Real Madrid's latest and fourth summer signing, joining the Spanish outfit in a deal worth an initial £42.7 million [pounds].

The 24-year-old full-back joins LukaJovic, Eder Millitao and Eden Hazard as the Los Merengues Bernabeu continues their spending spree.

The club first signed defender, Eder Militao, from Porto then, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, are already confirmed arrivals, from Eintracht Frankfurt and Chelsea respectively, while Santos’ 19-year-old wonderkid and forward, Rodrygo, is also expected to complete his move to the Spanish capital.

Madrid confirmed in a statement published on the club's official website:

"Real Madrid and Olympique Lyonnaise have agreed the transfer of the player Ferland Mendy."

"The player will be linked to the club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2025.

"Mendy will be presented on Wednesday June 19, at 1pm, in the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu."

Mendy, 24, started his football career from Le Havre and his dazzling yet consistent performance earned a move to Lyon at the start of the 2017-18 season where he went on to make 79 appearances, scoring only three goals.

He has also dawned the jersey of the French national team three times. Ferland Mendy made his international debut for the "les bleu" in November, replacing Benjamin Mendy in the squad, who had been ruled out of the tie against Uruguay in a friendly.
