The President of Nigeria took to Twitter to celebrate our women’s team.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday evening, June 12, celebrated with the Super Falcons of Nigeria for their overwhelming victory over Korea Republic at the ongoing 2019 World Cup in France.
Nigeria suffered an embarrassing defeat in their first game against Norway, a 3-0 shocking defeat, and needed a win against Korea to keep their hopes of going to the next round alive.
Super Falcons gaffer, Thomas Dennerby, kicked off their campaign with a loss but the nine times African champs brightened their chances of narrowly making it through to the next stage with their first victory at the tournament.
President Buhari made it clear on his Twitter account that he watched the Super falcons game and also congratulated them for their victory.
"Congratulations to the Team and Coaching Crew. A well-deserved win on a very special day for Nigeria. We are all proud of your victory,'' President Buhari tweeted
Nigeria will now face host nation, France, in their final group game. The Super Falcons must, therefore, avoid a defeat or they might not exceed the group stage.
