Nigeria's senior men's national football team, the Super Eagles, and team officials on Friday took some time off their AFCON preparations to enjoy a boat ride.

The three-time African champions, who are in the City of Ismailia, Egypt where they have continued with the final lap of their training programme ahead of the Nations Cup, suspended all preparatory activities to have a feel of the city.

Gernot Rohr and his team have been training at their base since Monday, having arrived Ismailia from Asaba, Nigeria, last Sunday.

Satisfied with the efforts the team had put into practice, Rohr approved the morning off for the players and coaches as they cruised on the Suez Canal on Friday morning.

“We took time off our tough #TotalAFCON2019 training routine this morning to go on a tour of the Suez Canal in Ismailia. Very pleasant experience," a tweet on the team's official handle read.

The Super Eagles will kick off their chase for a fourth continental title against Burundi in Group B on June 22 before games against Guinea and Madagascar on June 26 and 30.

But just before they switch all of their attention to the tournament proper, they will play a closed door friendly game on Sunday against Terangha Lions of Senegal at the Ismailia Stadium.
