Super Eagles of Nigeria lost 1-0 to the Teranga Lions of Senegal in their final warm-up match, before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off.

The game which was played behind closed doors in Ismailia, Egypt, saw the top-ranked African team defeat Nigeria courtesy of a goal by Everton's Idrissa Gueye.

Gueye's strike in the first half was the difference in the game that was played at the Ismaïlia Stadium on Sunday, June 16, as both Gernot Rohr and Aliou Cisse finalized plans for their team.

Gernot Rohr started with three at the back as John Ogu (dropping into defense) and Kenneth Omeruo flanked William Troost-Ekong in front of Daniel Akpeyi in goal.

Samuel Kalu and Jamilu Collins played as the wide men in a midfield four that had both captain, Mikel Obi, and Leicester City's enforcer, Wilfred Ndidi, playing centrally.

A front three of Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukueze, and Odion Ighalo got the nod in attack for the three-time African champions.

Although the Nigerian team created chances, they were unable to find the back of the net for the second game running, having fired blank against Zimbabwe in Asaba before traveling to Egypt.

Rohr and his 23-man squad will now depart to Alexandria, ahead of their tournament opener against Burundi on June 22.
