Club legend, Francesco Totti, has stepped down from his administrative duties with AS Roma. All sporting outlets in Italy have reported that Totti believes his ideas in moving the club forward are not appreciated.

The 42-year-old joined the club in 1989 as a teenager and has gone on to attain a respectable height in the Italian league.

“It’s a day that I hoped never would have come.”

Totti laments

"I never had the chance to express myself in decisions about the hiring and firing of coaches and buying of players transfer market,” he poured out his feelings at a news conference at the Italian Olympic Committee.

Rumours have it that Totti had preferred Gennaro Gattuso, his Italy teammate on the squad that won the 2006 World Cup, as the Roma New coach but Roma hired Paulo Fonseca instead.

The 42-year-old retired from football in 2017, after 25 seasons in his hometown, Rome. He led Roma to their last Serie A title in 2001. He finally parted ways with the club after 30 years of alliance.
