A video showing players of Nigeria’s senior female national football team celebrating the 3-3 draw between Argentina and Scotland yesterday at the ongoing FIFA World Cup has gone viral on social media.
The Super Falcons players were seen dancing and jubilating after the Scottish ladies got the equaliser via a spot kick in added time.
The draw meant both the Argentine and Scottish ladies finished below Nigeria on the list of teams that could still qualify as best losers.
With two of the four spots for best losers already secured by Brazil and China, while Nigeria and a few other teams are vying for the remaining two slots.
A win for either Scotland or Argentina would have gotten them to four points, one more than the West Africans and that would have reduced Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the knock out stages.
But with both teams out of the picture now, the African champions will hope for a favourable result in the games today.
Cameroon, New Zealand and Chile are three teams that could still qualify as best losers depending on the outcome of their final games.
All three teams are yet to pick up a point at the tournament but a two-goal win for either Cameroon or New Zealand when they face off against each other would see them progress while Chile will have to beat Thailand who have conceded 18 goals already by at least three goals to qualify.
The Nigerian ladies would be praying for another good night like yesterday to book a knockout place for the first time in five editions.
