Liverpool winger, Saido Mane, who was pivotal in Liverpool’s sixth UEFA champions league triumph, has insinuated that he would gladly swap the UEFA champions league with Liverpool for a continental glory with Senegal.

The 27-year-old footballer told a media outlet hours after his Senegalese team defeated Tanzania in their opening game at the ongoing AFCON 2019. Though he was not among the scorers, he is considered a menace to any defense and a key player for the Senegal national team.

Read Saido's words in full:

“I would swap the Champions League with Liverpool for an African Cup win with Senegal.

“Winning the competition with our country, who have never won, would be amazing. We'd have an extraordinary return home. It's my big dream.

'It's in our hands now because it's clear that we're one of the favourites.

“We can't deny it. It's not just enough to get results, but we have to be at our best level in every match.

On Thursday, Saido Mane and his teammates will battle Algeria in their next group game, a tie that will see Mane face off with premier league counterpart Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City.
