Naby Keita’s Family Home Attacked By Angry Youths As Player Leaves AFCON For Liverpool

Conakry police have confirmed that the home of Guinea star midfielder, Naby Keita was besieged by angry youths at the weekend, according to reports on BBC Sport.

The enraged youths who according to local reports vented their frustration at one of Keita’s relatives who is believed to have performed witchcraft, that has ended the Nations Cup participation of the Liverpool man.

“We sent a team of policemen to a house at Coleah in Conakry to restore calm after some youths attempted acts of riotous conduct in a house believed to be the family home of footballer Naby Keita.” a police source said.

Keita has reportedly left the camp of the Syli Nationale at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt and returned to England for assessment after picking up another injury against Nigeria in Guinea's second game.

The player, according to Guinean press has, however, denounced those who he claims “want to divide his family”.

Naby Keita who initially arrived the tournament short of match fitness, flew to England from Cairo on Sunday night after Guinea beat Burundi 2-0 in their final group game.

The hope and expectation amongst those in the Guinea camp are that he will return to the competition if it is considered safe enough for him to play.
