Manchester City’s new addition, Rodri, was full of praise for his new team during his unveiling as a City player on Thursday.

The 23-year-old who became the club's most expensive player in history after his €70 million move from Atletico Madrid faced the press for the first time moments after the deal was announced.

The Spaniard had some wonderful things to say about the club and his new manager, Pep Guardiola but surely, it is his comment aimed at Manchester United that would undoubtedly endear him to the hearts of City fans.

Rodri while speaking about the Premier League champions, claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side are overtaking their rivals, United as the better team in Manchester.

"Maybe they have changed the story. In the last five or six years City have changed the story - not only in Manchester but in England," he told reporters when asked why he was attracted to City.

“I love the City, I love Manchester and it’s becoming more blue!

"I am a lucky guy because I have been playing with lots of teams different kind of playing. The way I play football is close to this team, which is why I chose Manchester City.

"I think it’s a club I fit better but there’s many things."

No doubt, City have been the most successful team in Englsnd in recent and are the team to beat in the Premier League presently having won back to back league titles.

United Fans would, however, argue that they are the more historic side with a larger fanbase and trophies than their noisy neighbours, and that still gives them the edge over City.

But with the steady decline of the Red Devils and the fast rise of the Citizens, you would be tempted to agree with Rodri that Manchester is gradually becoming more blue, at least more than it was a few years ago.
