Kieran Trippier Officially Joins Atletico Madrid For £20M - Tottenham

English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, has officially announced the departure of their right-back, Kieran Trippier. The 28-year-old defender will now join the 'Wanda Metropolitano' outfit, Atletico Madrid, in Spain for a fee reported to be £20M.

The England international switched camps after spending four years in Tottenham, making 114 appearances for the club. He has been a pivotal player in the revolutionised spur team under the reign of Pochettino. Playing in the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League final would be the climax of Trippier's career in Tottenham.

He started his playing career as a youngster in the city of Manchester, with the club popularly known as Manchester City. He failed to make a name for himself there and spent seasons on loan to Barnsley and Burnley before eventually signing permanently with Burnley in 2012. He became more effective and helped Burnley gain promotion to the English Premier League [EPL]. Then north London club, Tottenham, came knocking for his signature and made him their own for £3.5M in 2015. He was an instant fit and a regular and his effectiveness, resilience in defense earned him a starter's shirt in the England 2018 World Cup squad ahead of Kyle Walker, Clyne, and many others.

His last season was an opaque image of his capabilities. He made lots of defensive blunders, including the famous and embarrassing own goal against Chelsea at Stamford bridge in the previous 2018/2019 EPL season.
