Lille sensation, Nicolas Pepe, and Arsenal are in advanced talks over a permanent 5-year contract worth a massive €80 million.

Arsenal would be fending off Liverpool, PSG, Manchester United and Napoli that are after the signature of the French winger.

The Ivory Coast international netted impressive 23 goals while turning provider with 12 assists across all competitions in the 2018-19 season for Lille in the French Ligue, although he failed to guide his country, Ivory Coast, to a glorious finish in the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, hosted in Egypt. He only made two assists throughout the continental tournament.

According to close sources, Pepe prefers a move to the Premier League to Serie A, but Arsenal completing the signing of Pepe would mean they would have to pull out from the chase of compatriot and co-winger, Wilfried Zaha. Ironically, Arsenal would be picking one Ivorian over the other.

Lille President, Gerard Lopez, admitted in an interview on Friday that four "big clubs" have met the €80m valuation of the 24-year-old, leaving Lille with no choice but to allow the winger make his own choice for his future. He favours a move to the EPL because he believes it would give his career the exposure it deserves.

The English Premier League transfer window ends on August 9. Arsenal has barely two weeks to finish the deal before the summer transfer window closes.
