Liverpool and Senegalese winger, Saido Mane, is yet to return to England to join the Liverpool squad following his extended break due to his duties in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 27-year-old, who was to go on vacation in a luxurious and extravagant location, chose to visit his hometown village in Bambali, Senegal, where he had coughed out a whopping £250,000 to fund the building of a school.

According to sources in the community, the footballer had been giving money to the villagers consistently and handing out football kits to the kids in the village before his visit. He, therefore, decided to pay them a visit to check the progress of his school and also spend time with his family.

The former Southampton player reached the AFCON final with Senegal but ended up losing 1-0 to Algeria. That, however, could not hamper the already delightful season he had with Liverpool, helping them win their sixth UEFA Champions League title.

Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, and even African compatriot, Mohammed Salah, reported to the Liverpool training ground on Monday, ahead of their crucial community shield match against defending champions of the English Premier League (EPL), Manchester City, but Mane would only be available on Monday, a day after the community shield game on Sunday.
