Wayne Rooney To Return To Manchester United As Coach When He Retires

Jayfred Ugo

Former England Captain, Wayne Rooney, has affirmed his desire to be the coach of his previous club where he spent 15 years scoring 183 league goals to become Manchester United's all-time record goalscorer.

In 2017/18, Rooney spent a single season at Everton, his boyhood club before joining United States of America's Major League Soccer (MLS) side, DC United. The striker is currently under contract with the MLS side until 2020 and is weighing his options beyond that.

The 33-year-old is considering an option to extend his stay in the American capital, where he has already bagged 23 goals in the Major League Soccer (MLS). Meanwhile, the ex-Red star has told close relatives that he would love to rejoin the Red Devils in a managerial position once he hangs up his boots.

This will not come as a surprise to Manchester United supporters, as the Old Trafford club already parades former United players like the coach himself, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick and Nicky Butt who returned to the club in a coaching capacity. The England all-time top scorer, Rooney, is currently doing his coaching badges and might be interested in following suit in the future.

Rooney’s wife, Coleen, is said to fancy a move back home to England from America, and with all his exploits in Manchester, he is sure to receive a huge welcome back party to the club in a capacity he pleases.
