Arsenal Legend, Nwankwo Kanu, Wishes Everton’s New Signing Luck

Nigerian star, Alex Iwobi, who joined Everton has received a major backing from Arsenal legend and former Super Eagles forward, Kanu Nwankwo. Kanu assured Iwobi that he would be supporting him to succeed at his new conquest in Goodison Park.

Kanu, who was a key member of Arsenal's invincible squad and Nigeria 1996 Olympic gold medal team, took to social media to wish the 23-year-old Nigerian compatriot, Iwobi, luck in his new endeavors at Everton and promised to always support the young lad.

“Once a Gunner, always a Gunner. We are proud of you, Alex Iwobi, and will continue to support you. Good luck with your new club,” Kanu tweeted.

Iwobi, who scored 15 goals and made 23 assists during his 149 match appearances for Arsenal, has now joined Arsenal premier league rivals, Everton, on a five-year contract in a deal worth £40 million ($49m) that was disclosed on Thursday’s deadline day deals.

The Nigerian play maker, who was an important figure in the Nigerian squad that claimed the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) bronze medal started as an Arsenal player 15 years ago, when he joined the Arsenal academy. Under the managerial prowess of Arsene Wenger, Iwobi came through the ranks and made his first senior team appearance in October 2015. .

Iwobi has won one FA Cup and two FA Community Shields in Arsenal and will look to add his experience in Everton's attack, as he looks to partner with Moise Kean in Marcos Silva's rejuvenated Everton squad.
