A loan deal to German league champions, Bayern Munich, is on the cards for Barcelona star, Philippe Coutinho, the club has confirmed.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Catalans in January 2018, has failed to impress and the club are now looking to offload him to create space for fresh signings.

Coutinho has found the back of the net just 21 times in his 76 appearances across all competitions for the Catalans.

The Brazilian was offered to a host of Premier League clubs while the transfer window in England was still open but no deal back to the country were he previously played for five years materialized.

But now it appears a move to the Bundesliga is close to completion with an agreement in principle between the two clubs already in place.

He was left out of the squad for Barca's opening game in La Liga against Athletic Bilbao as the move inches nearer.

"I can confirm that there's an agreement in principle in the case of Coutinho's loan [to Bayern]," Barcelona director of director of institutional and sporting and an official Barcelona spokesperson, Guillermo Amor told Movistar+.

The Barcelona official was quizzed about their reported interest in Coutinho's national teammate, Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain forward, but he declined opening up on it.

“The Coutinho news is true and it has come out, but with Neymar it’s better not to say too much. He is a PSG player and we have a game this evening, so should focus on winning that.”
