Pep Guardiola Says Sterling Can Score 30 Goals This Season

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, believes that the Jamaican born footballer, Raheem Sterling, could score 30 goals across all competitions this 2019-20 season, besting the wingers record of 25 goals last season.

The 25-year-old winger, who scored 17 goals in the Premier League as Manchester City defended their English Premier League title for two consecutive seasons, totalled 25 in all competitions, including English Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao cup.

Despite those impressive statistics and good run of form, Guardiola thinks Sterling can do even better.

“Yeah, hopefully. It will be good for him and for the team,” Guardiola said. "When he’s in front of the goal, he puts it in the net. So, he can do it, yeah. He scored 25 last season, and 25 to 30 is only five goals. So he can do it."

“I think goals are a consequence of the way we play – their mood, how the team’s playing, no injuries. I wouldn’t judge him if he scored 30 goals, 35 or 20."

Sterling booked his name on the top of the goalscorers chart in England Premier League, with his hat-trick in Manchester City's 5-1 defeat of West Ham in the Gameweek 1 of the EPL.
