The Footballing World Mourns The Death Of Luis Enrique’s Daughter, Xana

Jayfred Ugo

Spain has been given a bitter pill to swallow, as former Barcelona and Spain head coach, Luis Enrique, confirmed the passing on of his daughter, Xana, who died from bone cancer.

Luis Enrique had earlier in June stepped down from the managerial role in the Spanish national team after he reportedly missed their three previous matches, having been granted leave in March for what was described as a family emergency.

Though Robert Moreno was immediately confirmed as Luis Enrique's successor, Luis Rubiales, head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), assured the embattled coach and father that the coaching role will always be “open for him.”

On Thursday, the former Roma and Barcelona gaffer left the footballing world in mourning when he confirmed that his nine-year-old daughter, Xana, had passed away, as she lost her battle with cancer.
