Inter Milan outcast, Mauro Icardi, has joined the French Ligue 1 big boys, Paris Saint-Germain, on a loan for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
The loan deal also includes an option for PSG to buy the 26-year-old Icardi for €65 million at the end of the season.
This season, PSG has struggled with injuries. The likes of Cavani and Mbappe are out injured for at least three weeks, leaving only Neymar with the attacking duties.
PSG opted for more attacking bite in Icardi. They will pay Icardi €8m, with a €2m bonus should they activate the purchase clause in the deal. Icardi would return to Inter, where his wages was €5m per season if PSG does not trigger the purchase clause.
Icardi has had several issues with his employers, Inter Milan, following disagreement between the club and his agent, Wanda Nara, who doubles as his wife too.
At some point last season (2018-19) Icardi’s captaincy was stripped off him and handed over to the goalkeeper of the club, Samir Handanovic.
Icardi has openly questioned the harsh treatment he has received from the club. He started turning up late for trainings, causing a major rift in the dressing room.
He has also been given the jersey number 18 for the Stade De Princes outfit and is available to play for PSG when they face Strasbourg on Saturday.
