Bayern’s Boateng Charged With Assault On Former Partner

A prosecutor in the district court of Munich has filed charges of assault against Bayern Munich’s captain, Jerome Boateng, the brother of Fiorentina and Ghanaian midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng.

According to the prosecutor, Anne Leiding, the charges were brought against Boateng over his violent behaviour against his former partner, Sherin Senler, with whom he had a relationship for over a decade. They also have two kids together and are engaged. Leiding confirmed to journalists that initial investigations into Boateng began in 2018 and the first charges were filed against him in February 2019.

"The Munich prosecutor has had a case since autumn 2018 against Jerome Boateng because of dangerous bodily injury, and after an extensive investigation on February 11, 2019, a charge was brought to the Munich District Court," Leiding said.

The prosecutor added that another incident had occurred two weeks ago between Boateng and her client and the police were fingers deep in the investigation.

Earlier this year, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo faced similar rape cases, but since there was no new evidence against the footballers, the cases were dropped by the court.
