Emre Can Lashes Out At Juventus After Being Dropped From The Squad

Austin Papi

Juventus midfielder, Emre Can, has hit out at Juventus after he was left out of the Champions League squad.

The German international does not seem to be in the plans of his new manager, Maurizio Sarri, due to his failure to establish himself since leaving Liverpool for Turin, Italy.

Maurizio Sarri named Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot as part of his midfielders alongside Mathuidi, Rodrigo Bentancur and Miralem Pjanic for the UEFA Champions League group stage. He, thus, moved former Liverpool player, Can, further down the pecking order.

Can spoke to a news agency during his international duties for his country, Germany, as all club football activities are on hold for the international break.

“I am shocked and angry. Last week, the club promised me something else, yesterday the coach called me and told me in less than a minute that I was not in the squad. I cannot explain it, I have not been given any reason,” Can said.

Can made 37 appearances in total for Juventus last season under the tutelage of former coach, Massimo Allegri, though majority of those appearance were actually from the bench as a substitute. It also seems like the new Gaffer, Maurizio Sarri, rates the midfielder even lesser than Allegri did. The European transfer window is closed, so the midfielder cannot change clubs.

Liverpool players, who had left the club in search of greener pastures while under Jurgen Klopp, have found it hard to be regular elsewhere. Two notable examples are Can and Coutinho. Philippe Coutinho failed to stamp his authority in Barcelona like he did in Liverpool. He has now been sent on loan to Bayern Munich, Germany, by the Catalonia giants.

Can, who acted professionally during his time at Anfield and left on mutual consent, might be forced to leave Juventus following the recent omission from the UEFA Champions League squad.
