Scholes Writes Off Man Utd As Contenders For Two Years

Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, has ruled out Manchester United as contenders for the Premier League title for at least two years.

He does not believe Manchester United can compete for the Premier League title after their poor performance during the concluded summer transfer window.

The ex-United and England midfielder believes the side's result so far this season shows they will most likely remain behind last season's top four in the Premier League pecking order. He claims the club does not have the squad depth compared to the title contenders in the league.

Manchester United, who drew with Southampton last weekend, can boast of just one victory from their opening four matches, the emphatic 4-0 win over Chelsea. They also drew one more match against the Wolves and lost at home to Crystal Palace.

"I think you almost have to write United off for the next two years - this team - until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cleared everything he wants out; has four or five transfer windows. United are going to be behind Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham,” Scholes stated in a recent interview.
