Barcelona legend and captain, Lionel Messi, has conceded during an interview that he is not a close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, as they have never spent time in a dressing room or party together.

He, however, insisted that he would gladly accept a dinner invitation from the Juventus forward if invited.

Messi Not Friends With Ronaldo But Would Accept Dinner Date

Former Real Madrid and Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo, left Messi and the La Liga when he joined Italian giants, Juventus, in 2018. Also, during the 2019 Balon d'Or award ceremony, Ronaldo expressed his admiration and respect for his fellow five-time Ballon d’Or winner, while promising to invite Messi to dinner.

Messi maintained that he and Ronaldo had mutual respect for each other, adding that they never had any bad blood between them during their famous rivalry in Spain while playing for the El Classico giants.

The Argentine International, when interviewed by a Spanish sports media house, was asked if he would honour an invitation to spend time with Ronaldo should a formal one be made.

He replied: “Yes, I don’t have any problem with that."

“I’ve always said that I don’t have any issue with him. We might not be friends because we’ve never shared a dressing room together but I always see him at award shows and there’s no problem.

“We actually spoke with each other for quite a long time at the most recent show.

“I don’t know if there will be a dinner because I don’t know if our paths will cross for obvious reasons, each one of us has our own life and our own commitments. But obviously I would accept the invitation.”
