Former Liverpool Goalkeeper Commits Epic Blunder

Jayfred Ugo

Former Liverpool goalkeeper, Loris Karius, was at the centre of attention after his epic blunder which gifted Slovan Bratislava the lead in Thursday's Europa League clash against his side, Besiktas.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper is on loan at the Turkish club, Besiktas, from Liverpool. He was remembered in Anfield for the 2017/2018/Epic UEFA Champions League final blunder he committed against Real Madrid. His dodgy goalkeeping skills helped Real Madrid walk away with a comfortable 3-1 defeat of Liverpool in Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Years later, Karius is back in the news on Europe's elite league. He committed another giant blunder behind the sticks for Besiktas when he came rushing out of his box in an attempt to head the ball clear.

Instead, he failed to make a clear cut connection and ended up colliding with his teammate and centre-back, Rebocho, allowing Slovan Bratislava striker, Andraz Sporar, to pass into the empty net and give his side the lead just 14 minutes into the match.

The German shot stopper, Karius, was given a moment of relief when his team, Besiktas, recovered to take the lead before half-time. However, Sporar struck once again, a good goal to level matters again in the second-half. Adem Ljajic gave the Turkish the leveller, converting a penalty just before the half-hour mark.

Besiktas had taken the lead in the first half through Bratislava captain, Vasil Bozhikov, who turned Georges-Kévin Nkoudou's cross into his own net. Karius was not the only villain for the match but his side fell to a 4-2 defeat.
