You Are The Strongest Opponents I Have Faced - Guardiola Praises Liverpool

Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, has declared fellow English club, Liverpool, as the strongest opponents he has ever encountered in his career as a football manager.

Manchester City already lost the chance to claim an early lead in this season's title race by losing to Norwich and drawing with Tottenham.

The former Barca and Bayern Munich boss stated that Klopp's Liverpool were in a league of their own, although this statement is likely to undermine the prowess of Real Madrid whom he had faced in the El Classico as a Barcelona coach.

"You have to understand what we have done in the past does not ensure you can do it tomorrow or the day after," he said.

"The opponents we have, I've said many times, are the strongest opponents I have faced in my career as a manager – Liverpool.

"These are not weak words. I said it when they were in front, I said it when we were in front; when we win and we lose."

Manchester City began the 2019-20 season chasing a third consecutive Premier League trophy. However, a shocking 3-2 loss to Norwich City last weekend has dented their earlier hopes. The defeat also becomes their first top-flight loss since January. Manchester City are now five points adrift of Liverpool, who have a hundred percent record in the English Premier league, winning five out of five so far.

Guardiola barely won the EPL last season, as their epic battle saw Manchester City prevail with 98 points, with Liverpool closely following on 97 points. Guardiola added that the Liverpool team and attack trio of Mane, Salah and Firmino can be likened to the Barcelona side of 2014-15 and their forward line of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
