AC Milan Struggle To Worst Serie A Start In 81 Years

Austin Papi

AC Milan's new head coach, Marco Giampaolo, is currently under pressure and huge criticism after his side lost their fourth game in six Serie A matches this season. This has marked their worst start to a Serie A campaign in 81 years.

The Rossoneri side last lost four of their first six games of a Serie A season in 1938-39, and before then, it had only occurred once before in 1930-31. Giampaolo took charge of an AC Milan team, led by former legend, Gattuso, and his team finished in the top 6 brackets during the 2018-19 season, narrowly missing out on a place in this season's Champions League.

AC Milan faces a stern test in Genoa on Saturday, and anything other than a victory could persuade the club's directors to put an abrupt end to Giampaolo's tenure after being in charge of just seven league games.

The seven-time European Champions are currently sitting 16th on the Serie A table, as they head to Saturday's encounter in Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris to face Genoa.

AC Milan lost during the midweek by 2-1 to Torino, and over the weekend, they lost to Fiorentina. Former Bayern Munich winger, Franck Ribery, scored one of the goals. The 34-year-old winger also proved to be a menace to the Milan defense, tormenting them from the blast of the whistle.
