Leicester City: Racist Abuse Of Choudhury Reported To The Police

Austin Papi

Former English Premier League {EPL} champions, Leicester City, recently reported the racist abuse of their 22-year-old midfielder, Hamza Choudhury.

The case was reported to the police following some demeaning comments of the player after Leicester's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

Choudhury, who is of Caribbean descent and hails from Bengali, has been the target of racist abuse on social media. Racial slurs were also hurled at the player after he reportedly tackled Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, in a rough challenge during the game. Liverpool won 2-1 following a last minute penalty, carefully converted by Liverpool's veteran penalty taker, Milner, to give the Anfield outfit a last minute winner.

A Leicester City spokesman, who spoke to journalists, said: “We are appalled by these comments, which the club has reported to the police and to the social media platform on which they were made.

“Discriminatory behaviour has no place in football or in society and we will seek the strongest possible course of action to be taken against those responsible.

Recall, some weeks ago, Manchester United held an indoor meeting with social media moguls, Twitter Inc, following racist abuses hurled at Paul Pogba and young forward, Rashford.

Everton also stood against racist comments hurled at their mega summer signing, Moise Kean, who joined the club from Juventus this summer.
