Sparta Prague striker, Peter Olayinka, has announced that Nigerian afrobeat artist, Wizkid, inspired him to score the leveller in the UEFA Champions League match against Italian giants, Inter Milan, in San Siro.

The 23-year-old footballer scored his first UCL goal against the 'Nerazzurri', best known as Inter Milan, on Matchday 1 to stun the San Siro outfit, though the host levelled later on to force a 1-1 result.

The Nigerian, when quizzed by Nigeria's sports radio, Brila FM, stated that one of his rituals before any game is to always listen to a Wizkid song for inspiration.

“I motivate myself. Before every game I listen to music and I listened to Wizkid on that day as I usually would.

“It was a difficult game and against a tough side, but we managed to get the three points. Now we are six points behind the second spot team,” Olayinka said.

When it comes to inspiring songs, the "Joro" crooner, Wizkid, won't be top of your list but his melodious sound has inspired many athletes.

Recall, in 2017, UK boxer, Anthony Joshua, who hails from Sagamu, Ogun State, used Wizkid's 2014 hit track "Ojuelegba" as his entrance song during his WBO/IBF heavyweight title defence against Wladimir Klitschko.

Last Month, Alex Iwobi, Nigerian international who plays for Everton, said he had a mix of songs he listened to before any match to set his mind ready for the game and "Ojuelegba" by Wizkid was one of them.

Olayinka is not the only footballer that draws inspiration from one of Nigeria's biggest music exports in the world.
