James And Falcao To Miss Colombia’s Friendly Match Against Algeria And Chile

Bernard Femi

Real Madrid star, James Rodriguez, and Galatassary forward, Radamel Falcao, have been omitted from playing for their country in a friendly match against Chile and Algeria which will be held this month.

This was announced by the senior coach, Carlos Queiroz. He insisted that his mode of selection was in the best interest of the country and there should not be an issue of who is present or absent in the team.

The portugese national denied allegations that the Real Madrid star, Rodiguez, called for his omission in the team, so as to be able to concentrate on his Spanish club that has kept him on the bench since the season began.

When Carlos was quizzed on the absence of Falcao, he replied by saying that the 33-year-old, Colombia’s all-time top scorer, has missed nearly half of his country’s matches since his knee surgery in 2014 and is in a “difficult moment.”

Meanwhile, Colombia will face Chile in their first friendly match ahead of the South America World Cup qualifier match which will commence in March. Also, Colombia will play Algeria on October 15 in Lille.
