Shame On You - Balotelli Slams Verona Fans For Racist Abuse

Brescia striker, Mario Balotelli, has said that those who are in denial of the racial abuse against him are not "real men", as they are scared to stand up to the truth.

Balotelli reacted angrily and kicked the ball at Verona supporters, before threatening to walk off the pitch, after he was racially abused during Sunday's Serie A match at Hellas Verona.

The match official, Maurizio Marini, brought the match to a halt before following due protocol, asking for a statement to be read out to the crowd in an attempt to resolve the issue and tame the home supporters.

Balotelli’s teammates and the opposing team, Hellas Verona, eventually persuaded the officials to continue the match. The 29-year-old striker went on to score a stunning late consolation goal for Brescia, as they lost 2-1 at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi to Hellas Verona

After the game, Verona's head coach, Ivan Juric, and president, Maurizio Setti, claimed they heard no racist abuse directed at Balotelli.

The President of Verona, Maurizio Setti, was quoted as saying, "I'm not afraid to say it, today, there was nothing, no racist booing."

Balotelli uploaded his goal on Instagram with the caption: "Thanks to all the colleagues on and off the field for the solidarity expressed toward me and all of the messages received from fans. A heartfelt thanks. You've shown yourself to be real men, not like those who deny the evidence."
