Real Madrid winger, Lucas Vazquez, has suffered a fractured big toe in his left foot following a bizarre gym accident. Real Madrid confirmed the incident ahead of their La Liga clash with Real Sociedad.

According to reports coming from the Spanish Capital, Madrid, Vazquez sustained the injury when he dropped a mass meant for weightlifting on his foot during a gym session.

Real Madrid will be hosting one of the bright starters in the La Liga, Real Sociedad, at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, and will be without their key winger, Vasquez. Although they are yet to specify a timeframe for his recovery, it seems the player will be sidelined for at least one month.

The 28-year-old winger initially missed matches against Mallorca and Galatasaray in October due to a calf problem and is now set for another spell on the sidelines.

"Following the tests carried out today on our player Lucas Vazquez by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with a fracture to the distal phalanx in his left hallux. His recovery will continue to be assessed," a statement by Real Madrid read.
