England manager, Gareth Southgate, believes his side would be going to the Euro 2020 in better shape than they were before the World Cup.

He insists, however, that winning the competition might be just as hard as the FIFA World Cup Tourney.

England secured the Euro 2020 qualification with ease after they had seven wins out of their eight group matches, scoring 37 goals in the process.

Eleven of those goals had come in their past two matches, which were Thursday's 7-0 demolition of Montenegro, immediately followed up by Sunday's comfortable 4-0 triumph away in Kosovo.

Southgate led England to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and secured their spot at next year's tournament.

So far, this standard laid by his team has left the manager impressed by his players. However, he is not sure how his team will actually cope against the top contenders, including Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Italy and the likes.

"What we don't know, because we haven't had those tests more recently against the top eight or 10 [nations], is exactly how we're going to cope in those moments, and to win the European Championship is, at the moment, no easier than the World Cup,"

"The final four at the World Cup were all European and you've got to add Spain, Germany, Portugal and all the others into that. It's a really high-level tournament," Gareth Southgate told reporters recently.
