Wilfred Ndidi's Leicester City teammate, James Maddison, has claimed that the Nigerian international is better than Chelsea star, N'Golo Kante.

The Foxes have been in sublime form this season and the Super Eagles enforcer has been one of the vital cogs of the team.

Ndidi has been a shield for Brendan Rodgers' team, protecting the defence against opposition attacks, helping them keep six clean sheets so far this campaign and have only conceded eight goals – four less than the next best Liverpool

The 22-year-old leads the season’s Premier League charts for the most tackles and interceptions and those qualities have endeared him to Maddison.

"I think he’s the best in the Premier League at tackling and winning the ball back, bar none,” England international, Maddison, told 'Football Daily'.

“I know [N’Golo] Kante is a brilliant player and there are players like that. But actually winning the ball back and taking the ball off the opposition, I don’t think there is anyone better than Wilfred.

“Sometimes you get a player like that and what he does doesn’t get on the back page of the papers, doesn’t get talked about on Match of the Day.

“He’s fantastic at what he does and he lets players like me and Youri Tielemans do our thing higher up the pitch because we know we’ve got that solidity behind us.”

Ndidi was brought in as a replacement for Kante in 2016 when the Frenchmen left to join Chelsea after Leicester's fairytale Premier League-winning season.

The former Genk man struggled at the start of his Premier League career but has grown in leaps and bounds over the last few years, especially under the guidance of former boss, Claude Puel.
