Atletico Madrid youngster, Joao Felix, and Barcelona Captain, Lionel Messi, were involved in a heated altercation in the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday, as Atletico Madrid secured a sensational 3-2 victory.
The 20-year-old Portuguese wonder-kid squared up with Barcelona captain, Messi, and as the argument was getting out of hand, Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, rushed in to separate the pair. Moments later, other Barcelona players surrounded Felix and the atmosphere became tense.
One of the Barcelona players, Luis Suarez, also had an issue with the Portugal international, as the two entered into a heated spat before Barcelona and Atletico players separated the pair.
It all started when Joao Felix was tackled hard by Jordi Alba. The youngster appeared to lose his temper and the Atletico ace went on to slap the Barca left-back's finger away when Alba tried to touch him after the tackle.
Social media users have called out Barcelona players for 'ganging up' on Felix during the Super Cup clash.
Koke opened the scoring early into the second half of the semi-final clash at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, while Messi pulled the equaliser. A few minutes later, Antoine Griezmann added Barca's second goal but Diego Simeone's lad continued to fight back until he pulled level through Alvaro Morata, who converted from the spot-kick.
All hell was let loose when Angel Correa found the back of the net with four minutes of normal time left. Atletico went on to seal a sensational 3-2 victory. That victory means Atletico will now face arch-rivals, Real Madrid, in the Super Cup final on Sunday in Jeddah.
